Toussus-le-Noble Airport History

The site of today’s Toussus-le-Noble Airport was first used as an airfield in 1907 by the Farman brothers, engine and aircraft makers, who tested their early planes there, initially on two separate airfields. The Farmans’first short haul flights began in 1919. In 1936, a passenger depot was built. The Luftwaffe used and expanded the airfield during the German occupation until France’s liberation in 1944, after which the US Air Force took up its use as an air base. The airport was returned to France following the war’s end in August 1945.

The airport has been operated by the company Aéroports de Paris since 1946, who converted it into a business airport. Comprehensive modernisations were undertaken in 1972. Military aircraft, a flight school, and an aviation club have operated in parallel with charter jets at Toussus-le-Noble Airport since 2010.
